March 30th – Good Friday Service

Highland Community Church will be having a Good Friday service, “Celebrate the Cross-A New and Original Good Friday Production” on Friday, March 30th at 6:30pm.  This service will feature drama, music, and the Gospel message. All are invited to attend this free event.  Nursery will be provided.  Highland Community Church is located at 2307 Broadway in Highland.

March 31st – Community Family Day

Family Worship Center of Vandalia is hosting a Community Family Day during Easter weekend, Saturday, March 31st from 11:00am-2:00pm.  This event is being held at Rogier Park, Vandalia.  This fun-filled day will include:  massive bounce houses, Easter egg hunts, puppet shows, family activities, face painting, free food, and giveaways!  The Easter egg hunt for ages 1-3 will begin at 11:00am, ages 4-7 at 12:00pm, and 8-12 will hunt at 1:00pm.  Come out, invite your friends and family, and enjoy!

April 2nd – TAG Mom Group

All moms are invited to join the TAG group as they welcome speaker Kristen Slyfer of Stanfield Chiropractors.  The session starts at 6:30pm on Monday, April 2nd at Christ’s Church, 2511 Veteran’s Drive in Effingham.  Kristen has a fun presentation called “How to Stay Young,” and it’s full of great health tips and chiropractic info.  Free childcare is provided for children ages nursery through 1st grade.  TAG is a moms-mentoring-moms group.  Teach, Accept and Grow is the TAG motto.  The group meets the first Monday of every month.  For more information, checkout TAG on Facebook!

April 5th – Fourgiven Quartet

The Fourgiven Quartet from Vandalia, Illinois will be performing at the First Baptist Church of Nokomis on Thursday, April 5th starting at 7:00pm.  The First Baptist Church is located at 211 E. South Street in Nokomis.  Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy.

April 8th – Chicken & Noodle Dinner

The Christian County Historical Society and Museum is hosting a Chicken & Noodle Dinner on Sunday, April 8th from 10:00am-1:00pm.  The menu consists of chicken & noodles, green beans, potatoes, salad, roll, and drink; desserts by donation.  $8 for adults, $5 for youth under 10 years old, 2 and under are free.  This dinner is to raise funds for general upkeep and expenses of the museum.  Please come to support preserving our heritage.  The museum is located at 300 Abes Way in Taylorville.

May 12th – End of School Block Party

An End of School Block Party is being held on Saturday, May 12th from 3pm-10pm at the Free Methodist and First Christian Churches of Cowden.  Free carnival games and activities for families of ALL AGES.  High school and adult 3 on 3 basketball contest.  Free hot dogs and walking tacos served for dinner from 5pm-7pm.  The event will conclude with a free outdoor movie starting at 7pm.  Babysitting will be available for children during the movie.  Free popcorn will also be provided.  Seating for the outdoor movie will not be provided.  This event is being hosted by various churches of the Cowden Community.
