Henry J. “Hank” Voss, 90, of Ramsey, died on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.

Mr. Voss was born on Jan. 28, 1918, in Oak Lawn, the son of Jacob and Florence Billhouse Voss. He married Clara Ann Vroom on Sept. 16, 1947, in Munster, Ind.

He was the founder, president, chief engineer and professional engineer of WJLY (W Jesus Loves You) Radio in Ramsey, a retired radio engineer (after 40 years) at WMBI Radio (Moody Radio) in Chicago, a certified professional engineer and a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Ramsey.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Hank Voss and his wife Jeanette of Upland, IN; Tim Voss and his wife Kathy of Mundelein; Dan Voss of LaSalle; and Don Voss and his wife Cheryl of Lombard; daughters, Pat and her husband Keith Miller of Belton, MO; Mary and her husband Joel Vanderhart of Colorado Springs, CO; Cherie Voss Green of Ramsey; Debbie and her husband Dick Wheeler of Ramsey; and Carla and her husband David Genelly of Chicago; brother, John Voss and his wife Gert of Palos Park; 37 grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
